Hi my name is Gary and I am from Wayne, NJ. I had open heart surgery in Mt. Sinai hospital in NYC on September 4, 2018. My family and I had just come home from vacation Sunday and Thursday I was off to the hospital for a long 18 days between 2 hospitals. I had a cough and couldn’t lay flat the night before. I went to work the next morning and to the medical center at lunch thinking I had bronchitis or something like that. Much to my surprise they said get in an ambulance and you’re headed to the hospital. I was 40 and in relatively good shape, never smoked don’t drink. I was in shock my BP and pulse were through the roof. It took a couple days to figure out but I had a severe mitral valve regurgitation. They repaired it, recovery has gone well and I’m pretty much back to normal. You never know and what a scare, no symptoms and never any issues. Thank God I went to the doctor.
